Founded in 1998, the European Union Center serves as the focal point for teaching, research, and outreach on the European Union at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Center is dedicated to promoting scholarly research on the EU, strengthening curricula on the EU across campus, educating the next generation of experts on EU and transatlantic affairs, and reaching out to K-12 educators and students, businesses, government leaders, the media, and the general public to deepen understanding between the peoples of the US and the EU. The EU Center also offers a Master of Arts in EU Studies.
This guide was created to provide supporting resources for the 18th annual European Union Day, held by the European Union Center at the University of Illinois. Wolfgang Mössinger, Consul General of Germany in the U.S. Midwest, will present the keynote address on the topic "The New Cold War: Liberal Democracy vs. Authoritarianism. Why the EU is Today More Important Than Ever Before."
