"The AHA Annual Survey Database™ is a comprehensive database used for health services research and market analysis. It is derived primarily from the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals, which has been conducted by the American Hospital Association (AHA) or its subsidiary, Health Forum, since 1946. The survey responses are supplemented by data drawn from the American Hospital Association registration database, the U.S. Census Bureau, hospital accrediting bodies, and other organizations.
"We encourage participation in the AHA Annual Survey by all hospitals that are open and operating in the United States and territories—a group that totals over 6,000 hospitals. Survey participants are not required to be members of the American Hospital Association, or even registered by the American Hospital Association. Non-registered hospitals are identified through state hospital associations, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and other national organizations and government entities.
"Some items on the questionnaire, such as revenue response, are deemed confidential at the hospital-specific level and are not included on the Database. Our publication, AHA Hospital Statistics™, includes some of the confidential items at a state and national level."
