Addressing Learning Issues

Attribution & Citation

Attribution

Use quotation marks around direct quotes and provide a reference to the original source.

For paraphrased ideas, use single quotes and provide a reference to the original source.

Use inline references for other's ideas.

Citations

Citations should be complete enough so that anyone can find your original source. Elements of a proper citation generally include:

  • Author (s)
  • Title of main work
  • Chapter or section title
  • Publisher/Provider
  • Date of publication and/or access
  • URL for online sources
