With citation management tools, you can store and organize citations downloaded directly from the online library catalog and most Library databases. The International and Area Studies Library recommends either Zotero or Mendeley.
Both are free, have the ability to grab information about a resource directly from a webpage to creation citations, and have plug-ins available to insert formatted footnotes and bibliographies into MS Word.
If you'd like some training in how to use these tools and other citation management software check the Savvy Researcher calendar for upcoming workshops. These free workshops happen throughout the semester to offer University of Illinois scholars opportunities to explore various topics relevant to research and academic success.
