Welcome to the Veterinary Medicine Library: Getting Started

A general "How to" guide for using the VetMed library.

Meet your librarian!

Erin E. Kerby

Veterinary Medicine & Animal Sciences Librarian

(217) 244-1295

Welcome to the Veterinary Medicine Library! The collection and the services of the library are primarily intended to support the teaching, research, and public service activities of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

PLEASE NOTE that the Veterinary Medicine Library is a self-service library. This means the library is not regularly staffed. Patrons are responsible for checking out library materials to themselves using the dedicated computer terminal in the library. If you know ahead of time that you will need assistance, please make an appointment with the Veterinary Medicine Librarian.

How do I get help?

Ask the librarian!

If I am not in my office, the best way to contact me for help is to email

What if I need help right away?

Please contact the Funk ACES Library Reference Desk at 217-244-2249. They are available to help from 8:30am - 10:00pm with questions about locating library materials, questions about your library account, and troubleshooting the self-check terminal.

Who do I talk to if a computer or printer stops working?

If a staff member is present (Erin or Grace), ask them for help. Otherwise, call Library IT at 217-244-4688
