International Studies Research Lab Orientation: Library Orientation

A guide to the UIUC Library, Federated Searching, SFX, and Current Awareness, created especially for visiting scholars during the International Studies Research Lab.

Specialized Bibliographic Sessions

Apply for an individualized consultation with an International and Area Studies Library staff for a personalized bibliographic session. IAS staff will develop a personalized, project-based program for each individual covering electronic tools and software, print and electronic bibliographic resources and databases, archival sources, vernacular-language search techniques, vernacular keyboard options, vernacular full-text resources, and as needed, online consultations with information specialists located in other disciplines.

If you haven't already indicated interest in a personalized session, please contact the International and Area Studies Head, Steve Witt, at:
swwitt@illinois.edu or 217-265-7518

Note: These instructional sessions will be online, most likely via Zoom.

General Orientation Sessions

Summer Research Laboratory participants can sign up for general orientation sessions.  These sessions will explain how to use the library's resources, placing internal requests for items, online catalogs, printing, and research databases.
