The lives of our family members are documented in many government records. Federal, state, and local governments have records useful to genealogists. This guide includes webpages and databases created by government agencies for genealogy and family history research.

I'm an Accidental Government Information Librarian" series, this webinar overviews government information resources for family history including the census, maps, photos, local government, and online sources.
- Beginning Genealogical Research at the National ArchivesThe webinar hosted as part of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) Academy series, provides a general overview of Federal records for genealogical research held by the National Archives in Washington, D.C. It covers civilian and military records from various Federal agencies and departments that document the different ways in which our ancestors might have interacted with the Federal Government. The lecture highlights census, immigration, and naturalization activities, as well as military service from the Revolutionary War to the 20th century.
