EEBO: an Introduction: Downloading Documents

A guide to searching and using Early English Books Online.

Downloading Documents

You can download a PDF or print a copy of a particular document for quick reference from EEBO. For example, here is a record of John Milton's Eikonoklastes (click on image for larger view):

The next step is to click the leftmost check box, which would turn into checked box, indicating that the document has been added to the Marked List. This step is important because a full document, as opposed to a single image from a document, can only be saved/printed once it's added it to the Marked List.

Then click on the "Marked List" link at the top of the page. In the Marked List, you can view the document's record and will also see this option:

Download document image sets in PDF format

This option allows you to download all or part of a document. If downloading only part of a document, it will ask you to select a "range of document images," which are not the same as page numbers.  Make note of which document images contain the pages you need, then save only that range.

Once the document is downloaded, it can be viewed or printed like a normal PDF file.
