Learn how to effectively use the library's online catalog to find recordings and printed music at the Music and Performing Arts Library. Also looks at online tools that provide printed music and audio.


The Music & Performing Arts Library (MPAL) has materials in many formats, including books, music scores, recordings (CDs, LPs, cassettes), videos (DVDs, VHS, and laserdisc), journals, and microfilms. We also have access to many online resources. Information about these items can be found in the library catalog.

Finding Items in MPAL

On the 1st floor

  • Books
  • Play scripts
  • Reference books and collected editions of scores 
  • Journals
  • Media (ask at the service desk)

On the 2nd floor

  • Scores (except for most M1s, M2s, and M3s, which are shelved with Reference)
  • Special collections
  • Group rooms
