Finding Contemporary Concert Reviews
These tools are more useful when looking for contemporary reviews. Most databases allow you to limit results by time period, which can be helpful if you know the date range of the review you're looking for.
Music Periodicals Database
Click "Select from a list" next to Document Type search box, select options "Performance Reviews (more options: Favorable, Mixed, Unfavorable)".
RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
Under advanced search, find Document Type and select "Review of Performance".
In the advanced search, choose reviews and limit by music publications.
Full text articles from thousands of new sources (1980s-present) such as wire services, Time, Newsweek, New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post (all major newspapers). Select "Music Reviews" and remember to change date default (set for
previous 3 months only).
