World Music: Field Work and Theory

This guide can help you begin upper level research into ethnomusicology related topics. Especially helpful for graduate students or students in Music 417. Students in Music 133 have a separate guide.

The Basics

For more advanced students of ethnomusicology, performing field work and learning about the history and theory of the discipline are often of great interest.  The library has resources to help with these areas of study as well.  In addition to these more scholarly tools, many ethnomusicologists are beginning to take advantage of Web 2.0 technologies like blogs to make their research available.
