Welcome to the Veterinary Medicine Library Course Reserves LibGuide!
What are Course Reserves? They are materials that, at the request of course instructors, are made freely available in the library to students Materials may include textbooks, other helpful books, class notes, and more.
The course reserves at Vet Med are on the first set of shelves, before the regular collection starts. They are organized by call number. Please ask the librarian or graduate assistant for the materials for your course. It helps if you have the call number or title of the reserve resource you're looking for, but library staff can otherwise help you find it if you know the course number and instructor's name.
Note: most UIUC libraries have reserves for some courses, so your professor may have put the reserve items for your class at any one of several libraries, not just the Vet Med Library.
Items are allowed to leave the library, just be sure to return the reserve materials by the time the given loan period is up!
Unlike other books within the library holdings, course reserves are subject to different borrowing periods.
Standard check-out period for reserves is three days. Reserve resources may be renewed if no one else is waiting. Reserves can be checked out overnight, and due back the beginning of the next business day. During university breaks, when materials are not in demand, extended borrowing periods may be issued at the discretion of library staff.
PLEASE REMEMBER - Overdue fines accumulate at a rate of:
To prevent overdue fines from accruing, return all Vet Med Library Reserves materials to the book drop promptly. Take into account that items may not be checked in immediately due to the library not being staffed at all hours.
