Library Session Goals

After the library orientation session and independent review of this guide, students in Social Work 553 will be able to:

1. Use library and online reference resources to locate reliable sources of background information about a specific medical condition, including physiological and psychosocial characteristics.

2. Use library and online resources to identify key components and approaches to social work practice with patients, and their family and caregivers, affected by a specific medical condition.

3. Search scholarly research literature to identify evidence-based interventions and effective strategies for social workers working with this population.

4. Use evaluative skills to identify reliable community/online resources for educating and supporting affected patients/family.
