Antonio Sotomayor is Assistant Professor, Historian, and Librarian of Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He obtained his Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago, and currently holds faculty appointments in the Departments of Spanish and Portuguese, and Recreation, Sport, and Tourism, and in the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. He is the bibliographer and curator for one of the biggest and most comprehensive library collections on Latin American and Caribbean Studies in the nation, offering individual and group teaching sessions and consultations on anything related to the research process. He is the author of "The Sovereign Colony: Olympic Sport, National Identity, and International Politics in Puerto Rico" (Lincoln: University of Nebraska Press, 2016). He has taught on Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the University of Chicago, and at Knox College.
