Welcome to the Music and Performing Arts Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This guide is intended as an orientation to the Library for new music, dance, and theatre students. Please take a look around (see the tabs across the top) and stop by and visit us in the Library. We're always happy to help with any library or research questions.

We have books, music scores, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, and other materials that you can use for research and enjoyment. Most of our materials, including CDs and DVDs, can be checked out of the Library (bring your iCard!). We have computers with Internet access and software for researching and writing your papers. We have wireless access and open seating areas if you'd prefer to bring a laptop.

Using the library catalog

We have an entire guide that covers the complexities of searching the library catalog for music materials. It also clarifies what various music print and audio-visual formats are and how to tell what you're looking at when you've found an item in the catalog.

You can also access the Library's site on your mobile device via or via our Minrva app for Android or iOS.
