National Diet Library, Japan (国立国会図書館) is equivalent to the Library of Congress which holds the largest number of library materials among Japanese libraries.

NII (National Institute of Informatics) (国立情報学研究所) provides several content services for academic research. WebCatPlus and CiNii Books for book search and CiNii Articles for article search are the most useful databases for students.

JapanKnowledge+ is an electronic collection of encyclopedias and dictionaries, with smaller collections of news and articles from select Japanese journals, select electronic books and web contents, and audiovisual libraries. Contents are cross-searchable using the One Look search box.
