How to Find Articles

How and where to find articles using the Library website.

Welcome

This guide will give you instructions on how to use different ways to search for articles through the University Library, as well as how to find and request articles from other universities.

There are two main ways to search for articles through the University Library:

  1. Easy Search - Searches the Library catalog, I-Share, dictionaries and encyclopedias, and other databases to find books, journal articles, newspaper articles, and more.
  2. Journal and Article Locator - Find online journal articles with a DOI or citation, or see if we have your favorite journal online. Links to holdings in the online catalog are also included, as are links to interlibrary loan if we don't own the item.

Starting Your Search

  • The Teaching, Learning, and Academic Support Department has an introductory guide on finding articles by subject.
  • If you aren't sure where to start, using a database that covers a breadth of subjects, such as Academic Search Ultimate, is a great way to start to get a basic idea of what types of articles you are looking for.
  • If you are looking for articles in a particular academic discipline, many of the University Library's departmental libraries have subject guides with recommended databases.
  • If you need help finding an article, or anything else, Ask A Librarian!
