"In 2006, Jamie Tworkowski wrote "To Write Love On Her Arms," a short story about his friend who was struggling with addiction, depression, and self-harming. The narrative struck a chord with audiences due to its important subject matter and the piece's beauty. In no time, it went viral. That March, he founded the non-profit group of the same name, dedicated to helping those who suffer from the same afflictions. The organization was named "Must-Follow Non-Profit" by Mashable and also was awarded one million from the American Giving Awards.
Mr. Tworkowski has been featured on NBC Nightly News, CNN, MTV, and by Spin Magazine. To Write Love On Her Arms has the largest non-profit online presence on Facebook and MySpace and has donated more than one million to treatment and recovery organizations."
