A course guide.

1. Searching Religion Database for book reviews

To find reviews in ATLA Religion Database, type the title of the book in the search box and use the drop down menu to select "BT" (book title).  Scroll down to "Publication type" and select "review."

2. Searching America: History and Life for Book Reviews

If you are looking for reviews of George Marsden's book, Reforming Fundamentalism, published in 1988, use the Advanced Search option in America: History and Life and check the box for "reviews" at the bottom of the search form.  You can use the Term Browser to insert the author's name in the search box, or you can put the title of the book in quotation marks in the keyword box.

3. Searching JSTOR for books reviews

If you are looking for reviews of a book entitled, The Democratization of American Christianity, by Nathan O. Hatch, published in 1989, JSTOR is a good starting place.  From the basic search screen, simply type the following string:

                rt: "democratization of american christianity"

where rt stands for "reviewed title," followed by a colon and the title of the book enclosed in quotation marks.

The full text of the review is available by clicking on the citation.
