Osher Lifelong Learning Institute: Library Accounts

A library guide for OLLI members.

Your University Accounts

When you become an OLLI member, you are entered into the University system. This means that you will have two separate online "accounts" to keep track of:

1. Your online library account. You will need to create an online account by connecting the "library" number on your i-card with login information of your choosing. This will allow you to request books and pick them up at a library (e.g. ACES or Main Stacks) of your choosing. If you have questions about your library account, please call Central Access Services at 217-333-8400.

2. Your NetID and password, managed by Technology Serives (formerly known as CITES). Your NetID and password are used to view online resources such as newspapers and magazines. When you join OLLI, you will get a letter that helps you with your NetID and password.  PLEASE NOTE: If you need to reset your NetID account password for any reason, please contact Technology Services directly. The Library cannot help you with your NetID and password.

Communication with the University Library

OLLI Scholars will receive printed notices for OVERDUE and RECALLED library items. The Library sends those notices to the OLLI office to be forwarded to you. The University Library does not have your home phone number or street address.

Your i-card

Your library card number is located on your i-card under the heading "Library." You will need your i-card for two reasons:

1. Bring your i-card if you would like to check out a book or to browse the Main Stacks collection at the Main Library. Central Access Services cannot accept any other form of identification to check out materials, there are no exceptions.

2. You need the Library number on this card to set up your online library account.
