Osher Lifelong Learning Institute: Magazines

A library guide for OLLI members.

Keep in Mind!

We may not have the most recent issue.

If you are reading magazines, some titles do not have access to the most recent issue. This is because the publishers want libraries to buy to the print version of the title as well and put what is referred to as an embargo on the title. An embargo is usually set to 6 months - then the title becomes available online in the full format. If this is the case for your title, look in the online library catalog for the print copy and you may come to the library anytime we are open to read or make copies.

These links will take you to the "Discover" window. If you scroll over the titles below, they will tell you what link or links you can click in that window to access the magazine. The Discover window will also show if there are print holdings of the magazine at the Library. This Discover window step is a necessary step for accessing these resources from off-campus.

Note: In many cases, Illinois does not have access to the digitized print version of the magazine. The written content of the magazine is oftentimes accessible through a database, but images from the print version may not be included. If you are interested in viewing the print copy, locate "Library Catalog - Holdings in VuFind," in the list of links in the Discover window, and click "VuFind" to find out if the Library has a print copy of the magazine that interests you.
